Therapy for children and families

We offer a range of therapeutic input to support young people and families with autism, ADHD and other co-occurring conditions such as anxiety and low mood.

Our aim is to empower the individual to harness their strengths and support them to develop a toolkit of strategies to enhance their resilience, self-esteem and wellbeing.

We believe that therapy is a collaborative process. Whilst we have expertise in autism and ADHD, individuals and families are the experts on their own experiences.

At Autism Unravelled we believe that multidisciplinary working in collaboration with parents, teachers and other professionals results in the best outcomes.

We are very happy to discuss what intervention may be best suited to your particular needs – please contact us for a free consultation.

  • Post-diagnostic Psychoeducation

We specialise in supporting individuals and families after diagnosis to explore strengths, identify needs and implement practical strategies.

Research and guidance highlights the importance of timely support for parents of recently diagnosed children and young people. Psychoeducation decreases parenting stress and improves your knowledge about ASC, giving you solutions to support your family.

Our post diagnosis psychoeducation package includes:

  • Detailed understanding of the nature of ASC and neurodiversity

  • Identifying strengths and areas of difficulty

  • Teaching techniques for coping and reducing stress

  • Learning communication strategies and understanding behaviour.

Please talk to us if you require a bespoke post-diagnosis intervention.

Our Post diagnostic Psychoeducation package is £390 (3 sessions of 50mins)

  • Psychological Input:

At Autism Unravelled we work to reduce distress and promote psychological wellbeing for neurodiverse children and adults. This may involve working one-to-one with the individual, with parents or with families.

Often people will seek psychological support for concerns regarding emotional, behavioural or social difficulties including anxiety, depression and low self confidence. We also work with individuals and families hoping to build on existing strengths and knowledge in order to create change.

We offer psychological interventions using cognitive behavioural therapy and systemic therapy. Sessions last 50 minutes and are usually commissioned in blocks of 6 sessions. We work face-to-face or remotely.

Therapy sessions are £130/50 minute session. Please note we have a limited number of low-cost therapy slots available.

  • Speech & Language Therapy

At Autism Unravelled we specialise in the provision of speech and language therapy and support for emotional literacy for children up to the age of 18. We work closely with families to make a full assessment and plan an appropriate intervention programme based on the child’s needs. Our service is provided in the form of assessments, reviews and regular or intensive therapy input.

Emotional literacy aims to support the young person or adult to develop the language to describe emotional states and understand them.  Emotional regulation aims to support individuals in managing unwanted or unhelpful emotional experiences.

Video Feedback aims to enhance parent-child communication in autism and the social and language development of the child. The approach aims to help parents adapt their communication style to their child’s impairments and respond to their child with enhanced sensitivity and responsiveness.

Therapy sessions are £130/50 minute session. Please note we do have a limited number of low-cost therapy slots available.

  • Parent / Carer Consultations

Our Parent Consultations provide a supportive and collaborative space for you to explore and work out what to do about your concern. They can be used as an alternative to regular therapy sessions.

Parents meet with two clinicians to talk through a specific concern. Following the session they receive summary notes and strategies to take forwards. You have the option to book as many follow up consultations as needed.

Consultation sessions are £180/50 minute session plus written feedback. Please note we do have a limited number of low-cost therapy slots available.

*Please note that we are unable to offer emergency support if there is risk of harm. Clients should approach their GP for guidance in an emergency.
